The Sky Kingdom, as its name suggests, is home to the tribe of SkyWings. Located in Pyrrhia, it covers the whole north-east territory to the centre, stretching to the outskirts of the Mud, Sea and Sand Kingdom. Consisting mainly of mountains, cliffs and temperate forests, the Sky Kingdom has boreal forests and snowy areas in the north. The Kingdom is cool and warm, but can be extremely sunny in some places.
Sky Palace
The SkyWing Palace is located in the upper segment of the Sky Kingdom, and can be described as an enormous fortress carved oit of a mountain. Many tunnels are blasted out with fire daily by SkyWing subjects, rapidly enlarging the palace day by day. Half of the palace is inside a mountain, while the other half is open to the sky with many heavy defences. The Palace is also home to the SkyWing royal family. It is set in the northern segment of the Claws of the Clouds Mountains (see below).
Claws of the Clouds Mountains
The Claws of the Clouds Mountains are a mountain range stretching from the north coast to the south coast. The mountains is considered to be the main territory of the Sky Kingdom. Many SkyWings are thought to live in the high mountains.
Other Locations
- There is an outpost at the outskirts of SkyWing territory, where occasionally guards are placed there, presumably to guard the territory from any MudWings or SandWings.
Society
SkyWings are thought to be grouchy and hostile by the other tribes. However, the tribe values entertainment quite a lot and hires orchestras to perform music at celebrations, parties and festivals. SkyWings dance, sing and clap wings at parties, their version of dancing. SkyWings do not like the other tribes to know about their appreciation of the arts, preffering to keep it simply to their tribe and important guests.
SkyWing dragonets are raised in a Wingery, where they learn how to fly safely, as this tribe's dragonets tend to learn flight at a young age and master it quickly. SkyWings are really into tradition. Centuries ago, they didn't tolerate dangerous differences within the tribe, throwing animus and firescale dragonets off of the tallest cliff in the Claws of the Clouds Mountains before it could become too dangerous. Nowadays, though the tradition still exists in some parts, it is less intense. Instead of being killed, some dragons with 'dangerous differences' are cast out and are feared and hated by the tribe.
They have a truly beautiful ceremonial burial system. After a SkyWing dies, especially an important SkyWing, their body is wrapped in a white cloth and laid out on the ground to offer it to the sky. After seven days of offering, the body is burned. This is so that the SkyWing's spirit can fly free and return to life as a SkyWing. Jade Mountain is a notable place where these ceremonies take place.
Royal SkyWings are usually named after gemstones. (Ruby, Turmaline, Vermillion) SkyWings are also named after mountain birds (Kestrel, Peregrin) or the mountainous landscape (Cliff) and occasionally colors (Scarlet) or fire-related (Flame)
